Background and Amateur Success

Born in Bangkok, Patty took up golf at the age of 7. She honed her skills in junior tournaments across Thailand and Asia before heading to the United States for college golf. Patty enjoyed a standout career at UCLA, earning multiple All-American honors.

She decided to forego her senior season to turn professional in 2019. It didn’t take long for Patty to adapt her game successfully to the pro ranks.

Making History on the LPGA Tour

In her rookie year on tour in 2020, Patty recorded five top-10 finishes and earned LPGA Rookie of the Year honors. However, no one could have predicted what she was about to accomplish the very next year.

At the 2021 ANA Inspiration, Patty shot a blistering final round 65 to come from behind and claim her maiden LPGA Tour victory. Even more momentously, her 10-under winning score made the then 21-year-old the youngest player to ever win that major championship.

The victory propelled Patty into the spotlight and expectations have skyrocketed for the young superstar ever since. Now ranked 13th in the world, she continues to contend regularly while proudly carrying the flag for Thai golf.

Off the Course

Standing at 5’5”, Patty has become as recognizable for her beaming smile and stylish outfits as much her sublime skills with the driver in hand. She has built quite an online following, amassing over 50,000 loyal Instagram supporters.

While she keeps fairly private about her personal life, there have been recent rumors of a budding romance with Argentinian golfer Augusto Núñez who plays on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica.

When she’s not competing, Patty enjoys traveling the world, trying new cuisine, and spending time on the beach. She names tennis ace Naomi Osaka as one of her biggest inspirations for breaking barriers in her respective sport.

The Future is Bright

At just 24 years old, Patty Tavatanakit’s golf career is just getting started. With her prodigious talent and winning mentality, many more LPGA titles and major crowns seem destined to come her way. Beyond the results, she is also elevating the prominence of golf in her native Thailand.

One thing is for sure – we’ll all be seeing a lot more of Patty’s signature megawatt smile flashing across our screens for years to come!
